Wizard: Chaos DPS Guide

  • Very few affixes are cumulative, most modifiers goes on base spell damage*
  • Specific Skill Damage Modifiers (e.g., +11% to Lightning Bolt) may also add on top of Element % damage (unsure. numbers are slightly higher than just adding to base spell damage).
  • Base Damage of lvl 12 lightning bolt roughly 1715.
Damage Calculation = (Base Damage + Modifiers) * Targets * Cast Speed * (Crit Chance * 50%)

Modifiers (1-2% Margin of Rrror):

  • 1 Intellect = 1.344 damage
  • 1 Wisdom = <0.1 damage
  • 1 Evo = 1.4 damage
  • 1 Lightning Bolt Talent = 55.8 damage
  • 1 Superior Lightning Bolt Talent = 37.2 damage+ Cast Speed
  • 1 Lightning Power = 0.7 damage
  • 1 Spell Damage % = 14,1 damage
  • 1 Skill Damage % = 18,6 damage

Enhance all is same as Spell Damage %, it affect only the base spell damage.

Additonal Targets Hit for Lightning Bolt:

  • Lvl 4: + 100% Damage (1->2)
  • Lvl 9: + 50% Damage (2->3)
  • Lvl 19 + 33% Damage (3->4)
  • Lvl 29 + 25% Damage (4->5)

Cast Speed:

  • Has diminishing returns from talents (less gained per talent).
  • 0.215% Cast Speed for each Faster Cast Rate point.
  • Caps at 50% (Untested).

Gearing:

  • Get +9 to Talents first. This gives you the most damage increase.
  • Prioritize cast speed after this when possible, it’s very strong. At 95 with +9 talent points, a 16 point cast cloak can easily be >700 DPS.
  • From +9 Talents to +24 Talents, additional Talent points will “only” give you 100+ Modifier DPS but also cast speed. Make sure you don’t neglect above modifiers in the table if better in total.
  • Note +talent is still very strong after +9, 1 talent point is easy 75-100 intellect not counting cast speed increase on lightning bolt, but look around for other stats as well.
  • Main Stat talents are trash.
