Wuthering Waves – How to Move the Game Files to Another Drive

Guide to Move the Game Files to Another Drive

By ykeyvi

There’s 2 methods to move WuWa installed from drive1 to drive2.

If you’re scared to messed up, keep “Wuthering Waves Games” folder backup somewhere else like your desktop.

Method 1 (Easy Mode)

  • Install “WuWa launcher” on drive2 by clicking customize during installation process then specify drive location.
  • Once done, launcher should open automatically, leave it alone for now.
  • Get “Wuthering Waves Games” folder from drive1 then copy/paste or drag it in launcher folder in drive2 where you installed, there should be the exact same folder inside but empty so you can’t go wrong if see it.
  • Once done just go back to the launcher and press DOWNLOAD, it will start veryfying the files instead of downloading from scratch.
  • You should be able to play no issue once it’s finished.
  • You can now click the uninst.exe in old location, it will wipe only the old install and potentially the new desktop shortcut so just go in the new location and right-click on launcher.exe => Send to => Desktop (create shortcut) => rename to Wuthering Waves (optional)

Method 2

  • You moved the whole launcher + game directly on your other drive already >.<
  • Now wondering why game ask to re-download when you open launcher
  • Simply put you move the locale file from the launcher telling it where it is installed as well since obviously it retains the information from the older location, it will look there but no game folder to be found anymore since you already moved it.
  • To fix it, locate “Kr_game_cache” folder and delete “kr_game_temp.bin”
  • You should be able to Select the new location of “Wuthering Wave Game” folder
  • Now you can press download button on the launcher and it should verify the files
  • Once done, you can play WuWa again finally

Redownload issue root cause?

Launcher ask to re-download again? Check if you change some folder name by mistake in your install location, possible it’s some EPIC launcher BS going with renaming folder, unsure since I never used it for WuWa tbh. In that case use method 2 again.
